Weekly Pool Maintenance and Pool Service in Centurion

A weekly pool service means you swim instead of scrubbing. Crystal Reef visits every week, balances the water, cleans the pool and checks the equipment, for a fixed monthly price set by the size of your pool: R950 a month for pools up to 30,000 litres, R1,199 for 30,000–50,000 litres, and R1,499 for larger pools.

We are based in Die Hoewes, Centurion, so Centurion is where our routes are densest, and we run weekly services into Pretoria, Pretoria East and Midrand as well. Below is exactly what a visit covers, how the plans are priced, what it costs to get started, and how to tell whether weekly service is right for your pool.

Prices

Published prices
Pool up to 30,000 litresper month, weekly visitsR950per month
Pool 30,000–50,000 litresper month, weekly visitsR1,199per month
Pool over 50,000 litresper month, weekly visitsR1,499per month

A once-off establishment fee of R1,499 applies when a plan starts. The R650 call-out falls away on a plan.

Repairs, parts and once-off jobs such as an acid wash or sand change are quoted separately and done only with your go-ahead.

What happens on a weekly visit

Every visit follows the same routine, because a pool stays clear through consistency rather than heroics. The water is tested first, so any chemical we add is a correction based on a reading, not a guess.

  • Test free chlorine, pH and total alkalinity
  • Adjust the water balance based on the readings
  • Skim the surface and empty the weir and pump baskets
  • Brush the walls, steps and waterline
  • Vacuum the floor, or check your automatic cleaner is covering it
  • Backwash and rinse the filter when the pressure says it needs it
  • Check the pump, filter, timer and chlorinator are running as they should
  • Tell you about anything that is starting to wear, before it fails

Monthly plans, priced by pool size

Plans are priced by volume because a bigger pool takes longer to clean and holds more water to balance. Pools in Centurion and Pretoria commonly fall somewhere between 30,000 and 60,000 litres, so if you are unsure, the medium plan is the most common starting point — but we will confirm it when we see the pool.

Starting a plan carries a once-off establishment fee of R1,499. It appears on your quote in writing before you agree to anything. If you take a plan, the R650 call-out we charge to come out and inspect equipment falls away.

Billing is monthly. You can set up a PayFast debit order once, from a link we email, so there is nothing to remember each month. Your first month can also be paid through our online shop.

Why weekly, and not every second week?

On the Highveld, a week is about as long as a pool can safely go in summer. Strong sun burns chlorine off fast, afternoon storms dilute it and wash debris in, and a busy weekend of swimming uses up the rest. A fortnightly visit leaves a gap in which one bad week can turn the water green, and then you are paying for a recovery on top of the service.

Weekly visits also catch equipment problems early. A pump bearing that has started to whine, a filter pressure that keeps creeping up, a chlorinator reading that has dropped — each of these is cheap to deal with when it is noticed early and expensive once it has failed.

Summer and winter are different jobs

From October to March the work is about keeping up: higher chlorine demand, more debris after storms, algae pressure, and the holiday period when pools are used hardest. We watch pH closely after heavy rain and adjust dosing through heat waves.

From May to August the pool is used less, chlorine demand drops, and the focus moves to equipment and surfaces. Winter is the natural time for an acid wash, a sand change or repairs, because the pool is out of use and there is no rush. Hard municipal water leaves a white calcium line along the tiles through the year, and winter is when we deal with it properly.

Load-shedding and pump schedules

Filtration depends on pump run-time, and load-shedding eats into it. If your pump runs on a timer, outages can knock it out of sync or cut its hours in half without anyone noticing. We check the timer on each visit and help you set a schedule that runs the pump in the windows your area is most likely to have power.

If outages are long and frequent, we will talk you through options — a longer daily run to make up for lost hours, or an energy-saving variable-speed pump that runs longer on less power. We only recommend new equipment when the maths makes sense for your pool.

Who a weekly plan suits

A plan suits you if you would rather not handle pool chemicals, if you travel or work long hours, if you are letting a property and need the pool kept to a standard, or if you have had a green pool and do not want to go through that again. It suits pool owners with a salt chlorinator too — the cell still needs cleaning and the water still needs balancing.

If you enjoy doing the pool yourself, a plan is not the only option. A once-off clean at the start of summer, or a sand change when the filter is tired, may be all you need. Our pool cleaning and filter service pages cover those.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the pool

WhatsApp 081 577 5051 with your suburb, a photo and the rough size of the pool.

  2. We confirm the plan

We confirm which size plan fits and send the price, including the establishment fee, in writing.

  3. First visit

The first visit brings the water and equipment to a baseline we can maintain week to week.

  4. Set up billing

You pay the first month, then a PayFast debit order runs monthly so there is nothing to remember.

  5. Weekly from then on

A regular visit day, water tested every time, and anything that needs attention reported to you.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a pool service cost per month in Centurion?

Our weekly plans are R950 a month up to 30,000 litres, R1,199 for 30,000–50,000 litres and R1,499 above that, plus a once-off establishment fee of R1,499 when the plan starts.

How often should a pool be serviced?

Weekly in summer. Gauteng heat and afternoon storms use up chlorine quickly, and a week is about as long as the water can safely go without testing and correction.

Do I need to be home for the weekly visit?

No, as long as we can get to the pool and the pump. Gate access can be arranged with us directly or through your estate security.

Are chemicals included in the monthly fee?

How chemicals are handled is set out in your written quote before you sign up, so there are no surprises. Ask us when you WhatsApp and we will explain it for your pool.

What if something breaks between visits?

WhatsApp us. If it is equipment — a pump that will not start, a leak at the filter — we quote the repair and arrange a time. Weekly clients do not pay the call-out.

Can I pause the service in winter?

Talk to us before winter. The pool still needs its water balanced and its pump running even when nobody swims, and neglected winter water often means a green pool in September.

How do I pay?

Monthly. You can authorise a PayFast debit order once from an emailed link so there is nothing to remember. We do not handle cash.
